Hello! So nice to see you!
Oh, you are going to love this...Check out this totally wonderful room that super-talented Lynn-Anne created for (and with) her daughter. Her girl is both a preteen and a tomboy, and this might have made it difficult for some moms to guide their offspring to a look that pleases all, yet remains cohesive in design. But Lynn-Anne was so up to the task:
The quilt is beyond perfect, don't you think? Filled with color and life, not girly, but not masculine, either (or dull, which is often the pitfall of "not girly"). And the wallpaper is not wallpaper at all, but oilcloth (perfect for kids' rooms, says Lynn-Anne) from John Lewis in England. Yum.
Look at the knobs on the dresser!
A studying/reading space, with a table to pull-up at just the right height...
A closer look at the wall--Lynn-Anne's girl is an avid stamp collector, as well as a fan of happy, vibrant art...
The other side of the room showcases an obvious love for the penguin, as well as a fantastic cabinet that Lynn-Anne painted the same shade as the wall. The shelves inside are painted glossy black, and the backing is covered in fun wrapping-paper. Perfect-o!:
And one more look at that wall-covering...just fixed to the wall with a heavy-duty staple gun. "Oilcloth is weighty, so you don't need to line it to use it as wall covering . . . and it's nice and reflective and comes in loads of pretty patterns and colors," says Lynn-Anne.
Lynn-Anne also advises, with regards to the cabinet (above): "Pay attention when old stores and warehouses close in your neighborhoods...and hound the owners until they sell you their old cabinets!"
The crowning touch? Origami cranes created by Lynn-Anne's daughter:
So free, so colorful, so perfectly right!
This is by no means all there is to see in this lovely home, or from Lynn-Anne herself: click right on over to flickr to see the rest of Lynn-Anne's beautiful creations, and her website, blog and shop! Yay!
Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful spot in your home, Lynn-Anne. It's filled with love, beauty, and inspiration, and who could ask for more?
Have a great one, dearies. Cheers!
xoxox.
