making do

Ever since I saw this lovely photo (from Catherine, whose blog I also love), I've been jones-ing for an Eames coatrack:

They never did much for me before, but that never means anything in my world.  I can develop a new favorite in about 5 seconds flat...

Um...the Eames coat-rack.  Yes!  They retail, in case you didn't know, for around $175.00.  So, not so much in my budget.  Then, out of nowhere, I remembered that Meg, in all her awesomeness, did a little DIY project that echoed the idea of the Eames rack, while being quite affordable:

Now, I know it's not the same thing.  But in the original, it's the colored balls I love the most, and look!  There they are!  Meg says, in her ever-so-informative post, that the original idea is from Martha Stewart, but I'm not going to let that turn me off this project.  (Did you know?  I'm not a Martha fan.  But, that's a story for another day, I'm afraid.)  I think I'll make a base for the hooks, rather than hang them on a door as Meg did.  Cool, though, right?  I'm excited!
