I know, I know.
I'm taking a break, but I had to share this adorable menorah we made, thanks to Robert's awesome idea and perfect little tutorial over on Junior Society. Just look at this little bit of sweetness!:
I am so in love with my little button menorah, it's kind of crazy. I just adore it. (I used some of my very best antique buttons for it, too.) Do you see how the little shank buttons slip over the "wick" to create a "flame"? It's just the sweetest. Ever.
Not being Jewish ourselves, I hope so very much that we have the number of candles right. By my reckoning, we will be "lighting" the fifth candle tonight. Sofia learned a little bit about Hanukkah in school this week, and we are going to do more reading about it tonight. I can't wait!
And, yes, I did this craft all by myself, even though it is for kids. I just got really excited and started it before the kids even got home from school. Maybe that's weird, but it was just what I needed yesterday. The girls love their menorah, and also made some red Christmas candles, which you can see here:
Thank you so very much, Robert, for this wonderful activity that allows us to learn more about this beautiful holiday!
Have a great one, all.
xoxox.
p.s. See more button holiday fun here! Love them.
Ok, you totally made my day by sharing this - thank you!
And it turned out so great! Am loving the sparkly silver pipe cleaner for the wicks - and your kids' Christmas versions are fantastic. =)

well... it's really lovely!!
But...
it's a Hanukkia (or however you write it in English)and not a "Menorah". It has, as you did, a "Shamash" in the middle and four candles from each side, and during the Hanukah we light everyday another candle, which you did so nice.
The "Menorah" has only seven candles.
Both, reminding the Menorah from the temple.
and so on and so on...
I won't tell the whole story.
Just wanted to say I love it!

I love it. Thanks for sharing and also the link to the button ornaments. We try and make a few more ornaments right before Christmas each year, so they're ready for next year.
The angel is FaBuLoUs!! Enjoy your break and Merry Christmas to you and yours!
