Hey, friends! Happy near-weekend to you.
This morning I was delighted to find in my in-box an email from artist and mother Julie Hendriks. Julie lives and loves in the Netherlands and began creating art after the birth of her first child, Beer (Bear, in Dutch). Soon after, with the birth of her little daughter, Puck (!), Julie found herself a full-fledged artist/painter.
Her wonderful blog introduces us to what she calls "Beerlala Lifestyle," where her home and others that are lucky enough to display a bit of her art and happy vibe are showcased. Julie allowed me to share some photos of her own home, as a way of introducing all of you to her sweet, whimsical paintings. Yay!
Meet little Puck, who seems to totally "own" her awesome name, and notice the darling art--all Julie's, of course!
Hand-painted doll furniture, and happy playing children. My heaven.
This is Beer, the namesake of Julie's business, Beerlala. He appears to be up to all manner of creative good, not surprisingly...
Colorful bags displayed, and the "auto museum"!
And, well...you know my thing for doll houses. This one? Absolutely stunning. Look here for more shots of the hand painted interior! I love.
These paintings (above) remind me of the great illustrator Rosemary Wells, another one of our faves...
This little hand-painted chest is darling, don't you agree?
So, there you have Julie's home, filled with color, creativity, and love. I would spend hours there, if I could, playing and enjoying the happy vibe that she has created. And part of that surely is a wonderful by-product of her painting. Not only do her paintings brighten walls all over the house, but her creativity clearly makes a difference in her life and the lives of her little ones.
And Julie's art? Oh, I'm so glad you asked! Here are some closer-ups:
Happy children from around the world...
Sweet, nicely-dressed animals...
And many, many other darling child-friendly (and adult-friendly, if you're like me) original images. So, so dear and wonderful, no?! And just the tip of the iceberg, I promise...
Julie has a cheerful new shop, through which you can contact her if you are interested in any artwork. In the meantime, enjoy her sweet blog--there's so much to see, from other happy homes to wonderful little projects and new paintings. Truly a treasure!
Thank you, Julie, for allowing me to share your home and your work here. They are inspirational and lovely. I'm saving up for a painting of my own, so that I can, just maybe, pull-off the Beerlala Lifestyle...(oh, I do hope I can!)
Have a wonderful weekend, all. Catch you Monday!
xoxox.
