Would you just look at these (from the incredibly talented Jill of Jill Bent)? Would you!?:
I think...I just...died. They are so, so precious. And I would love to purchase one from this beautiful little shop, but I cannot. I just can't. My husband worked his last day of work today. For a while, anyway--until he finds something else...
Would it be wrong to make my own? See, this is where crafting gets tricky. I mean, of course, I would never, ever pass them off as my own design, but it's just the mere idea of copying someone else's beautiful work! And yes, I could change them so I'm not copying, but I don't want to. I want these dolls. JUST LIKE THEM. And I could probably do a serviceable job of copying them, but it wouldn't be right. The spirit would be all wrong...
I guess I'll just enjoy the picture.
(I found them via the beautiful bliss, which is a blog so lovely I just want to hang up my keyboard right now. I can't do any better than that! It's stunning. You must go see.)
See you tomorrow, my sweet friends...!
xoxo.
We've all seen lovely vintage shops popping up on etsy, right? I've found a few that I really love to browse...but sometimes, I feel like it is all starting to look the same. That's why I was so excited to find spacejam's shop--it's filled with vintage European treasures of the sort that...well, you just don't see every day. Mostly vintage German goods (some from DDR) and Russian goods (lots of Soviet Union items), it's a pleasure to look through.
Here's a peek:
A sweet little vintage German painting...
A vintage German travel game...
Vintage Russian military award ribbons...
A Soviet pin...
A vintage German powder case...
A very old German postcard...
Lovely vintage German plastic apples...
...and old Russian buttons.
So. Cool. See much, much more on Alexandra's flickrstream, okay?
Check it out, and enjoy!
The sweet sweet home of the Thomson family of Kansas City is not new to the internet. Featured previously on Cookie magazine's Nesting blog and on ish and chi, it's clearly a home with lots of inspiration to offer.
I found Galadriel's flickr stream a few weeks ago, and before I realized that she had be profiled elsewhere, I had already fallen hard and fast for her home. Then, after a little research, I realized I was not the first to be smitten. What to do? Should I scratch my plans to show you this sweet home?
But I just couldn't do it--I love it too much. It's furnished almost exclusively with thrift finds, orphaned treasures and diy projects. But it's stylish and colorful and is filled with love and humor and all the things that a true home needs. If you've seen this home before, I know you'll enjoy another peek. If not, you're in for a treat--just look and see...
Galadriel's light and bright kitchen, filled with thrifted finds and bargain bin saves. (The school-room floors are something I've always wanted to do. They look so vintage, so durable, and so good.) All done by Galadriel and her husband Luke, of course...
The bedroom shared by their two boys is a fun, bright, exciting campground of a place. Galadriel's husband made the built-ins, and she designed and painted the bold motifs...
I can envision many late nights covertly reading under the covers in here. It's just that kind of room--filled with lots of cozy nooks for building bedspread-landscapes and enemy-proof hideouts. Lucky boys...!
Did you think that Galadriel's little girl would get anything less that perfectly sweet? Fear not! With more thrift-store finds and hand-me-down gifts, they created a wonderful little nest for Isobel...
And this charming little play kitchen? Galadriel and Luke made it. By hand. Too, too dear for words.
The living room? Super-cute as well. The fantabulous horse painting was just $10 at a garage sale! Talk about an eye...
What unbelievable style at an incredible price. That's Galadriel's way, though. Affordable, stylish, filled with love.
So now I'm sure you understand why I couldn't resist! I'm so happy that Galadriel allowed me to share her beautiful home with you, and I do hope you enjoyed it as much as I did...See more on her flickrstream, if you like.
Bye, but just for now!
xoxo.
There's a chill in the air! I'm so excited...
Fall has certainly taken it's own sweet time this year. Not cool.
But all is forgiven...
...it's sweater season, after all, and we'll hold no grudges.

(You may be wondering: why does she not show any pictures of outside the house? Because it's San Diego. There are no visible signs of fall...It looks the same any day of the year. A bit of a bummer, no? But it's a beautiful place to live, the heat is over, and that is cause for celebration!)
Back later with the Sweet Home of the Week, my dears!
xoxo.
Look at this coat rack from flickr member Second Drafts! It is awesome, if you ask me (which you don't have to do, because this is my blog. But anyway.) Completely hand-made from plumbing parts, it's humorous and totally cool at the same time. Look!:
And here is a peek at an industrial hook rack for bags and such, made by the same uber-cool folks:
Totally unique, inexpensive, and creative-in-the-extreme...Perfect.
Visit Second Draft's photostream for more great ideas. (One to watch, I do believe!)
...and most likely, not the last.
My flickr friend Anita has kindly featured our home on her beautiful style blog 1richtungsblog. (Please do not tell her that I'm way out of my league, as usual...)
It's a beautiful blog, and German-speaking or no, you will surely enjoy browsing it's lovely pages.
Do say hi, won't you?!
xoxo.
...but how cute is this tea cosy from Maxine Sutton?!...Or this!:
The miracles kit? To-die-for.
Quite. Go see.
This little capelet from bayou salvage has me swooning:
I am totally in love with it. Completely impractical for my day-to-day life, but the heart has it's reasons, my friends...Here are some other really awesome looks from this super little New Orleans-based shop:
Bloomers! Again, there is no way on earth I could pull off this look, but I dearly love it. Dearly.
Lovely, no? Do visit bayou salvage. Perhaps you'll see something to make you swoon. That's always fun.
xoxo.
I'm a lucky wife and mom of two lovely little girls in San Diego, California, trying my best to grow up.
