I went on a date today with one of my very favorite people in this whole, big, wide world. Although J.P. and I could use a really good "grown-up" night out, this time it was my girl: Olivia. We took a day for us, and ran away.
First on the list: shopping for art supplies. As far as we're concerned, you can't beat that. Then we drove to Little Italy in downtown San Diego, to go to her favorite restaurant for cheese ravioli (with a meatball sub for me. I'm such a gourmet). So, here are a few pics of "Amy and Liv's Excellent Adventure"...
Then we found a Farmer's Market right around the corner! Yay!
(Have you ever had these [zucchini flowers], roasted with olive oil and salt and pepper? YUM.)
My sweet girl...
And then, it was time to walk back to the car, because we had a Very Important Place to go. Of course, I had to snap a few shots on the way...
(This is my self-portrait. Can you see me?)
What Very Important Place, you ask? Well, the Japanese dollar store of course! The sweetness we found there in the stationary and notebook section could rot your teeth, so I'll keep it under wraps...Those notebooks do crack me up, though. One said on the cover, "Because the candy is delicious, I become happy." I bought that one.
The whole agenda for the day was courtesy of Olivia, and I loved every single second of it. Next Saturday, it's Sofia and me. I can only imagine the day she will plan, but one thing I know...
...it will be just as priceless.
Cheers!
What a wonderful post! Thank you, Amy!

It's wonderful to meet a fellow San Diegan (via your gorgeous home filled with vintage treasures as seen on Etsy)! I love that you enjoy day dates with your daughters. My first child is on his/her way, and I'm excited to do the same when he/she is older. And the Japanese dollar store -- perhaps we have run into each other in the stationery section at Daiso before! :)

Wow! a Japanese dollar store in SD? How I miss (sometimes) living in SoCal. 100yen stores are my favorite in Japan.

Thank you everyone, for your comments!
I need a pair of those sandals, too, Nath. I'm thinkin' bright yellow...
Kari Anne, that's nice of you to say, but I am most assuredly NOT the best mom ever! I have good and bad moments, like everyone! But I'm really trying lately to DO more with my kids. And it's wonderful, though exhausting!
Jody, thank you so much! Can't wait to see your new blog!

I think that girls are so much fun...We do "special dates" in our family, too. I think that I look forward to them as much as they do. ;)
